Which should you choose?

Choose Managed if

You don't want "is my site still working?" nagging at you
Your time is worth more than £15/month — it almost certainly is
You'd rather one payment and be done with it

Choose DIY only if

Your budget is genuinely tight
You're already comfortable with WordPress
You're confident you'll remember updates every month

Reality check: DIY looks cheaper until you factor in 2–3 support calls in year one (£90–135). By year two you're spending roughly the same as Managed — with the stress of being responsible when something breaks. Year 1 DIY total: £261–330. Year 2+: £126–195/year, versus £180/year flat for Managed.

What happens if my site breaks

On DIY hosting

Contact me — I diagnose at £50/hour, 1hr minimum. Fixable, I fix it. Beyond repair with backups, I restore from those. No backups, nothing anyone can do.

On Managed hosting

Technical failure — server, WordPress bug, security — fixed at no charge. Something you did — fixed at £50/hour. Beyond repair, restored from the most recent weekly backup. Never a total loss.
